Fairgoers at the 138th DeKalb County [Sandwich]
Fair will line up to buy souvenirs on Wednesday,
September 9. The collectibles go on sale at the
Gazebo following the 9 a.m. opening ceremony.
The Gazebo is located north of the Home Arts
Building near the WSPY broadcasting tent.
This year’s pins, ornaments, magnets, and
T-Shirts show several buildings of the fairgrounds
in red, white, and blue colors to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary. The featured item is a star-shaped Polish pottery dish
with blue stars on a white background. A red tote bag is new this year. Another new item includes a navy mug that is a perfect
size for a cup of soup or a large cup of coffee or tea.
Always a sellout is the snapback Richardson 112 trucker cap. It comes in navy with black and has a mesh back. On the front is
a patch showing a Sandwich Fair logo.
Cloth items include a short-sleeved T-Shirt and a crew-neck sweatshirt with pouch in adult sizes S to XXXL. The t-shirt is navy
in color; the sweatshirt is ash color. Navy colored toddler and youth T-Shirts come in sizes 3T-5T, S to XL.
Adults as well as children collect the plush animals. This year Boomer Bunny with its adorable droopy ears adds to the animal
collections made by Glory Be.
Some items such as postcards, notecards,
and pins from previous years will also
be available. Artwork on many of
the souvenirs is by local artist Jackie
Dannewitz.
A preview of the souvenirs may

following local businesses, libraries, and
banks display the souvenirs: Leo’s Trophies
and the Fair Office in Sandwich; libraries
in Sandwich, Somonauk, and Newark;
First National Bank in Sandwich; Resource
Bank in Somonauk; Heartland Banks in
Sandwich, Plano, Somonauk, and Newark.

Wednesday is Children Free Day for kids 12 years old or younger – free gate admission all
day. Ride wristbands $25 from 3 PM to close per person on site purchase.
Thursday is Senior Citizens Bargain Day with Fair goers 65 and older admitted for $7 until
5 PM. Children 12 and under free until 5pm. Children 5 and under free gate admission all
day. Ride wristbands are $30 from 1 PM to close per person on site purchase.
Friday BARGAIN DAY, Everyone older than 12 admitted for $7 before 5 PM
Children 12 and younger free gate admission until 5 PM
Children 5 and younger free gate admission all day
Rides open at Noon. $30 Wristbands until 5 PM.
Saturday Children 5 and under free gate admission all day.
Sunday – Everyone admitted for $7 after 3 PM. Ride wristband are $30 from 10 AM to 6
PM per person on site purchase. Children 5 and under free admission all day.
