2025 SANDWICH FAIR SOUVENIRS
Submitted by Vivian C. Wright, Ed.D.
On Wednesday, September 3 fairgoers will line up early at the Gazebo to buy souvenirs
at the 137th DeKalb County [Sandwich] Fair. The collectibles go on sale immediately after
the opening ceremony. The Gazebo is north of the Home Arts Building near the WSPY
broadcasting tent.
This year’s pins, ornaments, magnets, and T-shirts highlight the Craft Demonstration
Building. Located just south of the racetrack, it opened in 1987. For 15 years prior to the
construction of the building, crafters sold their items under a tent-covered area on the
south side of the Home Arts building. When the building opened, five of the crafters moved
into the new space. The number of artisans has increased each year. They sell their crafts
while demonstrating their work. Fairgoers return each year to buy, admire, and place orders.
The special collectible this year is a 6”x10” wooden cutting board. It is engraved with several
buildings and iconic features of the fairgrounds. A heather-colored tote bag is new this year. Other
collectibles include a maize-colored mug that is a perfect size for a cup of soup or a large cup of coffee or
tea. The style is reminiscent of a tin cup from the old west campfire days. Always a sellout is the snapback
Richardson 112 trucker cap. It comes in heather gray with black and has a mesh back. On the front is a patch
showing a Sandwich Fair logo.
Cloth items include a short-sleeved T-shirt and crew-neck sweatshirt in adult sizes S to XXXL. The T-shirt
is a dark heather maroon color; the sweatshirt is a dark heather color. Toddler, youth, and onesie clothing
come in shades of blue in sizes 6M to L. Adults as well as children will be glad to know there is a new, plush
animal to add to their collections; Nanny, the goat, is made by Glory Be.
Souvenirs from previous years are available in limited quantities. They are wooden puzzles, shake up
beverage socks, honey pots by Rowe Pottery, pins, magnets, wooden ornaments, postcards, and note cards.
Artwork on many of the souvenirs is by local artist Jackie Dannewitz.
A preview of the souvenirs may be seen at www.sandwichfair.com. The
following local businesses, libraries, and banks display the souvenirs:
