nonperishable canned and boxed food items at the
Somonauk Public Library. All donations will benefit
local churches and food pantries in the Somonauk and
Sandwich area. Please, no expired items.
Somonauk Hometown Christmas
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28

Downtown Somonauk at Village Hall
Kick off the Christmas season at Somonauk Hometown
Christmas, a festive celebration filled with small-town
cheer! Start by picking up your holiday passport at
Heartland Bank, then enjoy an evening of family fun,
live music, giveaways, raffles, and sweet treats from
local sponsors. Watch the Lighted Christmas Parade
at 7 p.m., followed by a community choir performance
and the annual tree lighting ceremony at Village Hall.
Throughout the night, enjoy bus and hayrack rides, cozy
up with s’mores, hot chocolate, and popcorn, admire
the House Lighting and Gingerbread House contests,
snap photos with Whoville characters, and meet Santa
himself. Plus, try your hand at turkey bowling for a
holiday laugh!
Straight from the North Pole, Duffy the Magic Elf will
perform mind boggling feats of magic for kids and
adults alike! He will defy the very laws of physics; he
will reach into your mind and reveal secret thoughts!
And the greatest magic trick of all, he will make you
laugh!
Join us for an unforgettable night of magic & comedy.

Ebenezer Scrooge, Jacob Marley, Bob Cratchit,
Tiny Tim-The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and
Yet to Come, are characters we have come to love
and welcome into our homes and hearts. Join us as
Broadway and film actor Duffy Hudson, without the aid
of props or costumes while playing all 30 characters,
brings this magical tale to life. Don’t miss this unusual
take on a seasonal favorite.
Whoville's Spiced Up Christmas

Ingredients
1/2 cup pomegranate juice
5 Tbsp tangerine or orange
juice
1-2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon ground
cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1 pinch cayenne
1 sprig fresh rosemary
ginger beer, for
topping (optional)
Cinnamon Sugar Rim
1 tablespoon coarse sugar
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 pinch cayenne pepper

1. On a small plate, mix the coarse sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon,
and cayenne. Rim your glass with an orange, clementine, or tangerine.
Then dip the glass into the sugar mix.
2. Fill the glass with ice.
3. Combine the pomegranate juice, orange juice, honey (if using), the
vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, cayenne, and rosemary in a cocktail shaker.
Shake well to combine, then 昀椀ll with ice and shake 1 minute.
4. Pour into your prepared glass. Top with ginger beer and garnish with
pomegranate seeds, cinnamon sticks, and rosemary.
