Holiday Decorations Contest
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15 SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7
Show off your holiday spirit in Montgomery’s
annual Holiday Decorations Contest, hosted by the
Montgomery Beautification Committee! Residents
and businesses are invited to nominate their
own property—or a neighbor’s—for outstanding
holiday displays. Committee members will tour
the entries and place award signs at the most
dazzling locations. It’s a fun and festive way to
spread cheer and celebrate the season throughout

to celebrate the season! This program is open to
students in grades 6–12. Registration is required
and opens November 25, 2025, at 9:00am.
Candy Cane Challenge

Put your taste buds to the test by guessing weird
and wacky candy cane flavors! This program
is open to students in grades 3–5. Registration
is required and opens November 29, 2025, at
9:00am.
The History and Folklore of Santa Claus
The Festival of Trees features beautifully decorated
trees created by residents, families, businesses, and
local organizations, displayed both inside Village
Hall and outdoors along River Street. Families are
invited to meet Santa, enjoy cookies and cocoa,
and vote for their favorite tree on December 6th.
For those unable to attend the kickoff event, the
Festival of Trees will remain on display throughout
December, with indoor trees viewable during
Village Hall business hours.
Tree Lighting and Visit from Santa

Discover the fascinating evolution of Santa
Claus, from St. Nicholas to the jolly figure we
know today! This illustrated lecture explores the
history, folklore, and lasting popularity of Santa
through images, stories, and poetry. Registration
is required and opens November 17, 2025, at
9:00am. Open to adults.

Montgomery Village Hall
The Village of Montgomery, in partnership with the
Greater Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce,
hosts its annual Tree Lighting outside the Village Hall.
Enjoy the arrival of Santa by fire engine, live musical
performances, strolling carolers, free hot chocolate and
cookies, and fun giveaways for kids. Most activities take
place outdoors, so bundle up and join the community for
this festive holiday tradition.
Warm up at the library with a few fun rounds of
winter-themed bingo! Prizes will be available for
participants. This program is open to children in
kindergarten through grade 5.
